Accessorizing with the Pantone Color of the Year 2021
Pantone has announced the 2021 Color of the Year, and surprise, it’s actually two colors! I guess after last year, we need twice as much color. According to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute “The union of an enduring Ultimate Gray with the vibrant yellow Illuminating expresses a message of positivity supported by fortitude. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a color combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted; this is essential to the human spirit.” To learn more about this year’s colors, check out Pantone’s website.
Expect to see more graphic design, fashion, and home décor items in Ultimate Gray and Illuminating yellow this year. I personally really like the color combo and think there are a variety of colors that will complement these shades. The colors fit the beach or coastal look perfectly: the Illuminating yellow reminds me of the sun and the Ultimate Gray matches some of the weathered shells, pebbles, and particles of sand that are found on the beach. Ultimate Gray and Illuminating yellow are already being worn by celebrities, and you can be sure that your local boutique will be carrying clothing options in these colors this year.
Because gray and yellow go well with so many other colors, accessorizing your wardrobe can be easy and fun. You can go with fancy gems, such as citrine or yellow diamonds and sapphires. Or, for a more casual look, the semiprecious gemstone, yellow calcite, pairs nicely with this year’s Pantone colors, as do any of our nylon cord or stainless steel bracelets. You can go for a classic design featuring just the two colors or add bolder colors that may match the clothes you already have to accent the yellow and gray. Jewelry should be fun - don't be afraid to try different color combinations!
Even your coffee cup can incorporate the Pantone 2021 Color of the Year palette.
Here’s to a brighter, friendlier, more positive 2021!
