Our Oceans Impact Us All

As a beach lover, I’m concerned about the health of our oceans. According to the United Nations, “The ocean connects, sustains, and supports us all. Yet its health is at a tipping point and so is the well-being of all that depends on it.” The purpose of World Oceans Day is to bring awareness of the impact of human actions on the health of the ocean.

This year’s theme is “Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean.” We are all reliant on a healthy ocean and it will take all of us working collectively to revitalize the ocean we all share. This is no small feat given that over 70% of our planet’s surface is covered by oceans - we are definitely a blue planet! Some other interesting tidbits:

Check out the United Nations World Oceans Day site for more info and resources on how you can help.

It should come as no surprise, given my love for the beach and sea turtles, that we donate* a portion of our sea turtle magnet sales to Coastal Wildlife Club, a local non-profit organization dedicated to "increasing public awareness about coastal areas and particularly the wildlife species which depend upon beach and dune habitats in southwest Florida." Their sea turtle patrol and rescue efforts help with the biodiversity of the ocean. Click here to check out how you can help keep our beaches safe for sea turtle nests
